Resolutions, Schmezolutions.
I did really, really well last year. Like, 100% compliance with my 2012 resolution.
I kept up with my 5 miles per week goal and even upped it to 6 and made all of those miles be running miles.
I finished my last 3 miles run in the driving snow, 3 days into the flu, on ice, with a dog pulling me...
Was it worth it? Probably. 'Cause I can get pizza and ice cream sometimes and not get too fat for my work pants. And I sleep better. And I digest things better.
But I wanted a new resolution.
I am going to make an constant effort not to gossip, for sure. I don't want to hurt people with words behind their back. I want to only spread good, edifying news.
But that's not a super satisfying resolution because what am I
doing? I need some action items.
Give up alcohol 6 days a week?
Read a book every 2 weeks?
Cut my Facebook usage down to 10 minutes per day?
Journal daily? (not blog, but private journaling... like where I get to say even sicker things than what I write to you all!)
Cut my personal spending in 1/2 and give the extra money to charity?
Pray daily?
Get 40 hours of sleep per week? (which would force me to occasionally nap on weekends to catch up)
Maybe I'll do what a friend of mine did and have a new resolution every month?
What are you doing? Do you believe in resolutions? I'm not feeling driven to one yet, but would welcome suggestions!
*Edit* I've got it! My resolution will be to take my fancy camera out on an adventure once a week. So that's 52 adventures that will get me out and about at least once a week. I will take pictures and share them on the blog!
