"My suggestion: 7th and 8th graders should go on a series of three-month apprenticeships with carpenters, electricians, salespeople, farmers, bankers, computer technicians and programmers, cooks, etc., and they couldn’t graduate until they passed an exam after each rotation. I used to teach middle schoolers, and I know how little learning can go on during those years.
