Flip-It Friday: A Tangibly Giftless Holiday

Would you ever forego gifts on a holiday such as Christmas or Hanukkah?

To alleviate the financial burden and awkward "How much do I spend?" / "Do I give to that fringe relative?" / "Are gift cards an easy out?"

To focus on what you already have - family and/or friends and/or time off of work and/or a job at all and/or your health?

To give room for conversation over breakfast / cuddles with kids / running jokes / walks with the dog(s) / naps.

So yeah, you might think you could totally give up gifting for this year. But would your family give it up? Would they have to be all-in so no one felt jilted or overburdened?

If they won't give it up, can you have them decide on some guidelines to scale back (like my family did for this year - $25 gifts to households/couples)?

And now for some damn good marketing that get me all misty-eyed every. single. time.
